    • Annual General Meeting
      28th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the EASTSIDE FAMILY PLACE SOCIETY Wednesday, June 20, 2007 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM Eastside Family Place is looking for new board members to serve a two-year term beginning June 20, 2007. The Eastside Family Place, a non-profit society, is a support and resource centre for parents and caregivers and their young children, infant to early six years. If you are interested in making a difference, want to be a part of a dynamic and vital organization, have passion for families with young children and can make a time commitment of at least 6 hours per month. WE NEED YOU !     • NOBODY'S PERFECT Parenting Program
      Nobody's Perfect is a 8 week parent education and support program for parents with children up to 5 years of age. Nobody's perfect is offered twice a year fall/winter. Childminding provided fot chidren 18 month to early 6 years of age. Preregistration required. No cost.

  • Food Programs

    • Food Programs
      At Eastside Family Place we offer a complete range of food programs. We provide nutritious snacks for both children and adults on a daily basis. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, we offer a light lunch of soup, sandwiches or salads. We host seasonal celebrations, potlucks and brunches. In addition, we offer access to community food donations through our open food cupboard which operates on a "Take what you need, and give what you can" policy.

  • Playroom

    • Childminding
      Eastside Family Place offers this service to provide a break and support to parents who are in need of short-term respite childcare. ESFP holds a childminding license with Community Licensing and there are specific legal requirements that both ESFP and the parents need to follow. Please read the Guidelines for childminding before booking your child

    • Health Policy
      Eastside Family Place has developed a health policy that states: 1. If a parent/caregiver, child, staff or volunteer member is ill they will not attend the centre until well. Includes: diarrhea, fever, ear or eye infection, running noses that have colored mucous, bad coughs, flu, colds, step throat and any childhood diseases in the contagious stage. 2. Parents/Caregivers will be notified of any outbreak of childhood diseases. 3. Clients should not bring and eat food in the playroom except for at snack time as some children may have food allergies that are life threatening.

    • Playroom Policy and Guidelines
      Eastside Family Place Playroom Guidelines These guidelines are for all children & adults to follow. Be Kind and Respectful Eastside Family place is for all families with children who are aged infant to early 6 years old regardless of culture, religion, economic situation or sexual orientation. We do not tolerate any form of racist, sexist, homophobic or judgmental behavior. Be Safe Please follow and model basic safety rules. (No running inside, no climbing on the furniture, no throwing toys, no war or weapon play.) Keep hot beverages out of reach of children. Please refrain from eating in the playroom except for the 10:30 snack time. Keep Family Place clean and tidy. Everyone is expected to help clean up and tidy. Please treat our toys, books and arts and crafts area with respect. Clean up the kitchen after you are finished having snack or lunch. No Hitting or Hurting Adults or Children Hitting by children or adults is not tolerated in the playroom at any time. For information about alternatives to spanking or positive guidance strategies please feel free to talk to one of the staff for more information and resources. Please stay home when you or your child are sick Please refer to the ESFP Health Policy Parents & caregivers are expected to supervise their children while in Family Place Please do not leave your child unattended in the playroom or kitchen. If you need a short break please ask a staff person to watch your child for a few minutes. If you need a longer break please talk to the staff about the Childminding Program.       A membership for ESFP is available for $10/year and provides access to the following programs/services: - The right to vote at the Annual General Meeting - Participation in ESFP adult programs - Access to toy & book library for children and adults - Quarterly newsletter by mail or e-mail (optional) - Free coffee and tea while visiting ESFP - Supporting your community through ESFP
